New School Requests
Superintendent John Bailey and Assistant Superintendent of Corporate Services, Drew Chipman, recently met with Alberta Education Capital Planning representatives to move new school requests forward, particularly discussion regarding the new K-9 school in Okotoks that has been approved for FSD. The challenge is trying to identify a suitable site as the Town pursues the annexation of more land.
Methane testing continues at the non-operating landfill on the site, which is delaying approval of the development permit. Since the school was opened back in 1984, standards and requirements have changed, resulting in Alberta Environment and Alberta Health Services’ requirements for the testing.
