Claresholm RCMP lay additional fraud charges in Fort McMurray evacuee investigation

Claresholm, Alta. – On May 12, 2016 the Claresholm RCMP launched an investigation into a Victoria couple fraudulently posing as Fort McMurray evacuees to gain community assistance.  On May 15, 2016, Darryl Rondeau was charged with fraud under $5,000.  On May 24, 2016, 39-year-old Jaime Lynn Cox was charged with five counts of fraud under $5,000.

Cox has been released from police custody on conditions.  She is scheduled to appear in Fort McLeod Provincial Court on June 1, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.

Rondeau plead guilty to his charge yesterday in Fort McLeod Provincial Court.

As this matter will again be before the courts, no further information will be provided by the RCMP in relation to this investigation.
