As we move closer to the end of 2015 and reflect on the past year, we’d like to take this opportunity to thank our community supporters and government stakeholders for their generous support.
Rowan House has operated at full capacity throughout the year, providing a safe refuge for the women and children whoflee domestic violence. We provide all of the basic necessities while they live with us and work to transition back into the community. “If it wasn’t for your group and support and for the women’s shelter being there I don’t think I would have had the strength to be able to continue the fight.” (Resident) We appreciate your tireless support as we continue our collective fight against the serious issue of domestic violence.
Season’s greetings to all from the Board of Directors, staff and residents of Rowan House Emergency Shelter.
In gratitude,
Dena Kameka
Resource Development – Director
Rowan House would like to thank everyone who made a donation this month.
Every donation made to Rowan House is gratefully accepted and helps bring hope to women and children fleeing family violence. A $500 donation provides one month of specialized, trauma-informed care for a child in the shelter. Just $70 creates a welcome basket of essential personal care items for families who arrive with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
Rowan House would like to highlight the following donations for November:
Rotary Club of High River – $25,000 for Transitional Housing
Rob Middleton – $8,000
Annapolis Capital – $5,000
We Love AmiJane FunRaiser – $4,075
LaDue Ladies Lunch – $2,500
Canadian Women’s Foundation Shop For Hope Fundraiser in partnership with Winners/Home Sense – $1,901
Lion’s Club of Okotoks – $1,500
Wales Theatre/YYC Comedy Festival – $1,220
P. Leckie Professional Corp. – $1,000
Jean Feddersen – $500
John Sim – $500
And a big thank you to everyone who has started dropping off Christmas baskets, knitting, goodies and other donations from our shelter wish list. It really means a lot to our residents and staff. And a special thank you to the students, teachers and parents of Spitzee School, Good Shepherd and Claresholm High School for your support.
