TORONTO, March 13, 2016 – Over 125,000 fans have voted and chosen Yannick Bisson of Murdoch Mysteries as the winner of the 2016 Fan’s Choice Award, sponsored by American Express, it was announced today by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television.
“With thousands of fans from around the world voting online, this Fan’s Choice Award shows that fans are truly at the heart of the Canadian Screen Awards,” says Academy CEO Helga Stephenson. “Congratulations to Yannick Bisson.”
Yannick Bisson was announced as the winner LIVE on-air during the broadcast of the CANADIAN SCREEN AWARDS at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto.

With over 60 credits to his name, Yannick Bisson is well-known to audiences for playing “Detective William Murdoch” on CBC’s hit television show Murdoch Mysteries. Yannick can also be seen as FBI Agent “Jack Hudson” in the long-running crime drama series Sue Thomas: F.B.Eye and as “Joey Barrett” opposite Rick Springfield in High Tide.
Yannick got his first break in 1984 when he landed a role in CBC’s critically acclaimed television movie Hockey Night with Megan Follows and Rick Moranis. This was followed by a lead role in his first feature film, in which he played the title character in Toby McTeague. His other credits include the feature film Casino Jack, acting alongside Academy Award® winner Kevin Spacey and TV movies Young at Heart, starring opposite Academy Award® winner Olympia Dukakis and The Day Reagan Was Shot, with Academy Award® winner Richard Dreyfuss.
