Winter Weather Affects Buses in Foothills; Longview School Closed

Winter Weather Affects Buses in Foothills

Winter weather continues across the Foothills region and road conditions are rapidly declining. We are predicting that road conditions in most rural areas will deteriorate beyond acceptable operation levels.

Longview school is CLOSED on Wednesday Nov 27.  All other schools remain OPEN.

School buses are CANCELLED on Wednesday Nov 27 for: Red Deer Lake School, Heritage Heights School, Millarville Community School, Longview School, C Ian McLaren School, Turner Valley School, Oilfields School, Cayley School.  Scheduled field trips requiring out of town transportation will also be cancelled.

We will not operate morning or afternoon transportation services to these locations.  Please be aware that if you transport your child in the morning you will also be required to provide transportation home at the regular school dismissal time.

School buses are OPERATING on Wednesday Nov 27 for Okotoks area, High River area, and Blackie School.

We respect the decisions parents make to keep their children at home when transportation circumstances make travel unsafe. When attendance is low due to winter weather, teachers are asked to provide meaningful instruction in the form of review, practice, and enrichment. Any essential learning or activities that occur will be replicated for absent students upon their return.
