EDMONTON, AB (December 9, 2015): Today, Wildrose MLAs tabled a petition signed by over 30,000 Albertans who are against Bill 6, the Wildrose Official Opposition said today.
Copies of the petition are still rolling into the Wildrose office, but with the NDP invoking closure on debate for Bill 6, today could be the last day to share the petition in the legislature.
The signatures were gathered through a grassroots campaign of Albertans against Bill 6.
“I’ve never seen anything like this. Unlike NDP MLAs, Wildrose believes it’s our job to make sure the voices of our constituents are heard at the legislature,” Wildrose Shadow Agriculture Minister Rick Strankman said. “Our entire Wildrose caucus is proud to present this petition and commends the work done by Albertans across the province to gather signatures.”
Wildrose Shadow Minister of Jobs, Skills, Training & Labour Grant Hunter said these signatures are the exact reason the NDP need to slow this bill down.
“The NDP want to pass this bill despite the overwhelming opposition of farmers and ranchers across the province,” Hunter said. “They still have a choice to stop this bill from going through, we hope they will listen.”
