EDMONTON, AB: At a time when the NDP government is wavering on its controversial Bill 6, Albertans need to rally together now to kill it, the Wildrose Official Opposition said today.
In a heated Bill 6 consultation Tuesday in Red Deer, Agriculture Minister Oneil Carlier apologized for the government’s numerous mistakes in the handling of Bill 6 and finally admitted the process has been an “odd way of doing things.”
“We are urging Alberta’s farming and ranching families from every corner of the province to join the peaceful protest planned for Thursday at noon at the Alberta legislature,” Wildrose Shadow Agriculture Minister Rick Strankman said. “The Minister’s comments were clear. The NDP is no longer confident in Bill 6. We need to show them now that we’re not backing down.”
Strankman said all Albertans should join in the peaceful protest efforts, whether they come from a farming background, or not.
“The NDP might not realize that the food they eat three times a day comes from farmers and ranchers, but everyday Albertans certainly do,” Strankman said. “I look forward to seeing another strong turnout of farmers, ranchers, and passionate Albertans at the legislature this Thursday.”
Wildrose will continue to follow the will of Albertans, and press the NDP government to kill Bill 6.
