Vulcan, Alberta – Today, following review of the autopsy results completed by the Medical Examiner’s office on September 29, 2015, the identity of the two victims in the fatal house fire in Vulcan are confirmed as Robert Farrow, 47, of Vulcan, Alberta and Karen Currie, 56, of Vulcan, Alberta. The next of kin notifications have been made.
The Vulcan RCMP initially responded to a residential structure fire in the early morning hours of September 28, 2015. Upon being able to conduct an initial inspection of the home, the remains of two individuals were discovered.
The fire investigators have now concluded their investigation into the origin of the fire and have determined it to have been deliberately set and is deemed an arson. The investigation thus far has led police to believe that the person responsible for the arson has perished in the fire, though the motive remains unclear at the moment. RCMP are not looking for any other suspects in this matter at this time.
