Volunteer Committee Created to Organize Little Britches Parade

High River, AB: Community members have taken the initiative and created a volunteer committee that will organize this year’s Little Britches Parade. A local resident, Hank Leeferink, has assumed responsibility for leading the event’s organization.

The Town had stepped in to assist with last year’s parade after the Chamber of Commerce indicated that it needed to focus its energies on supporting business recovery.

“Council was willing to support Town staff doing this because the parades are so important to our community, but we need to find a more sustainable model for the long-term,” said Mayor Craig Snodgrass. “We need community members stepping up to the table to take responsibility for these sorts of things – this committee is absolutely the right way to go for planning these types of events.”

The committee is being formed to see the launch of a new Little Britches Parade weekend.  The parade will now happen on Saturday, May 16, instead of the holiday Monday and will involve other weekend activities to attract residents and visitors to stay, enjoy and shop!

The committee is now actively recruiting volunteers, any residents who are interested in joining can attend an upcoming meeting set for February 11 at 7 p.m. at the Masonic Hall Lodge (306 4 Street S.E.)
