2 Grass Fires Burning in MD

Fire 1 –  Location:  Highway 549 and 2311 Drive West

The first fire is located on the border between the MD of Foothills and Kananaskis Improvement District, between Highway 549 and 2311 Drive West.

Approx 6 hectares of land are involved in this fire.  Foothills Fire Depart, Turner Valley Fire Depart and resources from Alberta Sustainable Resource Development are on scene fighting this fire.

The public is asked to stay away from this area and persons whom are in this area are asked to follow directions of first responders on scene, listen to local media and Alberta Emergency Alerts for further directions and details.

Fire 2 – Location:  Okotoks overpass near Highway #2

A second, smaller grass fire is currently burning in the area of the Okotoks overpass near Highway 2.  Fire crews from Okotoks and Foothills Fire Department are currently on scene fighting the blaze.

The public are asked to follow the directions of first responders in the area again, and if possible to avoid the area.
