We are so excited to have a new school year underway at Turner Valley School. We are especially excited to see all of our students and school families again! And of course a big welcome to all of the students and families who are new to our school. Our enrollment is up and there are a lot of new faces in the building, which is a wonderful thing. I have been so impressed by the enthusiasm and energy flowing through the hallways and our classrooms since our return. I would like to thank all of our staff for making the first day back a positive, energizing experience for kids. I would also like to give a special thanks to our custodians who have gone above and beyond to get the school looking bright and shiny for our students’ return.

We had ‘Meet the Teacher Night’ last Thursday. We have many new faces on staff, so we met in the gym for introductions at 6:30-6:40, then staff headed back to their homerooms for a meet your child’s teacher (or teachers).

A big thank you to the parent volunteers for organizing and running the school’s annual ‘Pancake Breakfast’. We had a great turn out, we truly appreciate the many parents who spend their time making our school an amazing place for everyone. Our parent council held their first meeting of the year was Wed Sept 17th at 6:30 in the Library, everyone was welcome.

I know parking can be a challenge at times when dropping off or picking up, but please remember that the cross walk area is not an appropriate place to park in these busy times. We have also been asked by the church across the street to try and not park in their parking lot if possible. Also, next week we should be starting grade 6 patrols. Patrols helps our younger kids be a little safer when crossing the road, and helps our grade 6’s to learn responsibility and be leaders in the school. Please be respectful and understanding as they learn their new role.

We look forward to another great year.

Yours in Education!
