Turner Valley School News: Welcome to November!

Can you believe fall has all but disappeared and winter is knocking at our door? As we go through this change please remind your little ones to dress appropriately for the weather and to watch for ice.

The students and staff at Turner Valley School continue to work hard to achieve outstanding educational outcomes. It is great to see the learning taking all different shapes and forms, especially as teachers work with students on their individual needs.

As we continue working with students to become assessment capable learners, a reminder that next week is the start of our fall student led conferences. These conferences bring the student into the assessment conversation so they understand what, why and how they are doing. It also gives them a voice in their learning and an opportunity to share their learning with you. Parents and teachers provide support that is vital to the success of all learners in our school community. We look forward to seeing you Nov 3-5, and don’t forget to sign up for a spot online!

We know that before and after school the parking and traffic can be busy at times. As the safety of our little ones is our first priority, we express a big thank you for being respectful, and working with our patrollers. These 10-11 year olds are working on responsibility and leadership and deserve to be treated with respect for what they are trying to do and they take their job very serious. Thanks for your support.

Traditions are important in every community and Turner Valley School is no different. Our Fall Fling was a great success, we had a busy gym and our very own Hayden Mulder in grade 5 was our DJ, and he did a fabulous job. Also, our Remembrance Day assembly will be on Nov. 10th @ 10:30 a.m. and we will honour the sacrifice made by so many for the privileges we value today and the freedom we have been given.

Don’t forget the School council meeting on Nov. 18th @ 6:30. We appreciate all their efforts as we try to fundraise for new additions to our playground.

Have a great November.
