Turner Valley School News: October is Library Month in Canada

October has been designated as Canadian Library Month. The idea for a month dedicated to library and information services in Canada was developed by library partners from across the country to help raise public awareness of the important role that libraries play in the lives of Canadians.

Canada’s libraries make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and in our communities. They help to inspire Canadians to celebrate our culture, to advance universal and equitable access to information, to support lifelong learning and to document and preserve our heritage for generations to come. This month, the inspiration created in and by libraries will be celebrated with the theme “Libraries Inspire!”

Turner Valley School will be celebrating Canadian Library month in conjunction with the Sheep River Library.

We have once again been invited to participate in special workshops and author visits at the Sheep River Library during the month of October to ignite and encourage interest in reading and books.

Please check: www.sheepriverlibrary.ca for more details of upcoming Sheep River Library events.

A Reminder to Grade 1 Parents

If your child was in Kindergarten at T.V.S. last year, you will have received a 1 year Sheep River Library membership courtesy of AG Foods in Black Diamond. You will need to go to the Sheep River Library before October 30, 2014 to activate this annual membership for your child.
