As we enter the Christmas season, Turner Valley School continues to be a very busy place. Decorations are going up, lights are being lit and excitement is building in anticipation of the celebration to come. A number of activities are planned for the school community and the community at large. We invite all members of our community to join in the celebrations of the Christmas season, especially our concert “Santas Rockin’ Christmas Eve” Dec. 16 @ 6:30. Other exciting events occurring that week are caroling on the morning of the 17th and gingerbread house construction on the 18th. Students will be dismissed for holidays at 12:10 on December the 18th.
November was a busy month here at TVS. Students were busy with archery club, playing volleyball and lunch time writing club in support of the Legacy Park project. French club has also started for grades 4 to 6 on Mondays at lunch. We would like to extend our appreciation to all who attended our Remembrance Day Ceremony on November 10th with a special thank you to Mrs. Schuster who planned the program and prepared the students. It is so valuable for our students to have an opportunity to reflect the sacrifices made by others in order for them to enjoy the freedoms we have today.
The first reporting period has just been completed and report cards were will be issued on December 4 to all students. Thank you to all students and families that participated in our student led conferences at the beginning of November. These conferences demonstrated not only the depth of student learning, but the support and encouragement they receive from home. Thank you for all you do at home to support the work that our staff do here at school. Though the formal conferences have been completed please feel free to contact your child’s teacher with any questions you have regarding their learner profile.
In order to prioritize learning goals for both staff and students we have updated our school’s three year Education Plan. Our current focus continues to revolve around improving teacher practice and refining our TRIP and MaRTI programs.
We look forward to seeing everyone at our Christmas celebration on December 16 @ 6:30 in the gym. It is our wish, on behalf of the staff, that everyone has a safe, happy, and peaceful Christmas season with your loved ones.
Happy Holidays, James Holladay and Chase Ellis
