Turner Valley School News From the Learning Commons: Dog Tales Comes to Turner Valley School!

Literacy for Life’s Dog Tales program is off to a howling start at Turner Valley School. Twenty students in grade 3-6 are sitting down with a four-legged friend for 15 minutes of quality reading time each week thanks to local Literacy for Life volunteers and their pets.

The Dog Tales concept provides students with a non-judgmental reading buddy to help them develop reading skills and confidence in a safe environment.

Literacy for Life has all dogs screened before they can participate in the program. We are very grateful to Bonnie Chant-Kinsman of Literacy for Life for bringing the program to Turner Valley School. It has been a tremendously positive experience so far. Thanks to Carrie Wiley for volunteering her time to contribute to the success of this program.
