Turner Valley Pool to Celebrate 50th Birthday

On May 30, 1964 the doors to Turner Valley’s new Pool, the Dr. Lander Memorial Swimming Pool, opened at 207 Main Street NE, Turner Valley – to the delight of the community. The Pool has continued to be the hub of summer fun in our region for over three generations.

On Friday, August 8th, 2014, the Town of Turner Valley will be hosting a celebration recognizing this significant milestone. The 50th Anniversary Celebration will feature an afternoon tea with special guest speakers, followed by a 1964-themed Pool Party, stretching to a Midnight Swim at the pool.

This event will highlight the history of the Pool through exhibits and stories from previous years, including bathing suit and swim badges exhibits. We are planning fun events for children, prizes / giveaways, 60’s-themed music, and Cake! As a special feature, we will be charging 1964 entry fees for swim attendees.

Residents of our community, current and former employees, and our partners in the development of our region will gather at the pool for a special day of summertime fun.
