Turner Valley Mayor Resigns

Turner Valley Mayor Gary Rowntree submitted his resignation to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). It was formerly accepted by Council at the special meeting of Council held on Thursday, January 24.
The timing of the resignation requires a by-election be held within 90 days as outlined in the Municipal Government Act.  Deputy Mayor John Waring will assume the role of interim Mayor until such time as the election is held
CAO Todd Sharpe stated, “Mayor Rowntree’s strong leadership and unwavering commitment to the community as a  member of Council will be greatly missed. We offer our best wishes to him and his family and extend our heartfelt thanks for his dedicated service.”
