Turner Valley Legion Pays Tribute to WWI Veterans

TV Legion CenotaphWe would like to encourage everyone to attend the Tribute to WWI that will be held on Thursday, July 24th.

We ask that you gather by 5:30pm; the Parade will start at 6:00 pm from the Chin-Up Cafe on Sunset Blvd East and March to the Cenotaph. The Legion Honour Guard will lead the parade.

The ceremony at the Cenotaph will be hosted by Comrade Michel Jackson, Legion President, and consist of an address by Comrade Syd Barker, prayer and address by Branch Chaplain Padre Alan Getty, the singing of the National Anthem, Last Post, a gun salute, two-minutes of silence, the Act of Remembrance, flag raising, blessing and wreath laying, singing of the Royal Anthem (God Save the Queen) and public placing of poppies. Don Russell will represent the wounded veteran and Ida Wegelin the “Weeping Lady”.

Following the Ceremony the kitchen will have lasagne and garlic toast available to those wishing to purchase supper.
