Turner Valley Firefighters Honoured

On Monday night, local firefighters Deputy Fire Chief, Deanna Hintze; Captain, Gerry Rooke; and firefighter, Steve Teshima were awarded the Alberta Emergency Services Medal recognizing 12 years of service to the community and Province.

The Alberta Government initiated the Alberta Emergency Services Medal to recognize Alberta emergency services personnel who selflessly dedicated their time, talents, and, in some cases, their lives to the service of others. The medal pays tribute to outstanding full-time, part-time, and volunteer members who have committed 12 or more

years to emergency service in Alberta, and recognizes personnel from disciplines that are not recognized by any other award.

Gerry Rooke is a paramedic with the Province of Alberta and also serves as the municipal Director of Emergency Management. Deanna Hintze is an Emergency Medical Technician and works with the local ambulance dispatch serve. Steve Teshima is a firefighter with the Town of Turner Valley.
