Turner Valley Councillor Crane Resigns

Turner Valley Councillor Barry Crane submitted his resignation this week. While the resignation takes effect immediately, it will be formally reported to Council at its next regular Council meeting on February 19, 2019.

As outlined in the Municipal Government Act, a by-election to fill the vacancy must be held within 90 days. The now-vacant Council position will be added to the April 8 by-election ballot triggered by the recent resignation of former Mayor Gary Rowntree.

Former Councillor Crane’s committee positions and other Council responsibilities will be shared by the remaining Councillors until such time as the position has been filled.

Acting CAO Gerry Melenka stated, “Mr. Crane’s dedication to the community and commitment to Council was very much appreciated. I wish to thank Mr. Crane for his many valuable contributions to the Town of Turner Valley during his term as councillor.”
