Tree Removals will Require Temporary Closure of 12 Ave. S.W. in High River

12 Ave SW - High RiverHIGH RIVER, AB: Crews from ArborCare Tree Service Ltd. will begin removing nine trees along 12 Ave. S.W. on Monday, November 23. The process will require a temporary closure of 12 Ave. S.W. between 1 Street S.W. and 6 Street S.W.

The road closure is necessary to allow crews to remove the south-facing side of the tree canopies. This should be completed no later than the end of day on Tuesday, November 24 and crews will then re-open the road and move to north side of the trees to complete the removals.

The removal of all nine trees is anticipated to be complete by Friday, November 27. Residents are asked to use caution when travelling through the area and watch for heavy equipment and work crews.

The nine large trees along the western end of 12 Ave. have aged and are becoming fragile, causing potential safety risks.

In determining the health of the trees, staff and outside experts, examined the foliage colour, density, annual shoot growth, wound wood development and overall vigor.

The nine trees to be removed are showing signs of structural defects and decline that may make them susceptible to extreme weather events.
