Travel Alberta’s campaign with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has been recognized as a finalist for Social Media Initiative of the Year in the 2014 Canadian Tourism Awards.
Building on success in previous years, Travel Alberta and the airline partnered on a winter (2013-14) program to generate awareness, engage with customers and increase bookings to Alberta from the Dutch market. The campaign was centred on a social media component that applied the concept of a bucket trip to engage with potential travellers in a new and innovative way.
The Canadian Tourism Awards, presented by Deloitte, HLT Advisory Inc., and The Toronto Star, are hosted annually by the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) to recognize success, leadership and innovation in Canada’s tourism industry. People, places, organizations and events are rewarded for going above and beyond to offer travellers superior tourism experiences in Canada.
Congratulations to the following Alberta tourism operators who have also been recognized as finalists:
- Canmore Uncorked: Event of the Year
- Banff Lake Louise Tourism: Marketing Campaign of the Year
- Canadian Rocky Mountain Resorts: Tourism Employer of the Year
- Rocky Mountaineer: Business of the Year, Tourism Employer of the Year, Traveller Experience of the Year
