
On Wednesday, October 15th, the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta will invest the newest members of the Alberta Order of Excellence.
The Albertans being invested into the Order for 2014 are:
- Sharon Carry (Calgary) – President of Bow Valley College and post-secondary sector leader and innovator
- Tony Cashman (Edmonton) – celebrated Alberta historian, storyteller, radio personality and playwright
- Morris Flewwelling (Red Deer) – former Mayor of Red Deer, Canadian heritage and museum community leader
- Colin Glassco (Calgary) – philanthropist and founder of the Colin B. Glassco Foundation for Children
- Julia Hamilton (Calgary) – respected workplace safety educator and advocate
- Willie Littlechild (Maskwacîs) – former Member of Parliament, Indigenous people/human rights advocate, world-class athlete
- Fred Mannix (Calgary) – Canadian business leader, noted philanthropist in the areas of education, military history, wildlife conservation and sports
- Reinhard Mühlenfeld (Edmonton) – philanthropist and businessman, founder of Champion Pet Foods

The Alberta Order of Excellence is the highest honour the province can offer its citizens. Since the Order was created in 1979, 140 Albertans have been invested including this year’s new members.
