‘Tin Star’ to Begin Filming in High River June 14

HIGH RIVER, AB: Production crews from Kudos Film and Television will arrive in High River on June 14 to begin filming the new ‘Tin Star’ series.

Crews will move their work trucks into town and park in the gravel lot on between 128/130 4 Avenue S.W., the lot south of High River United Church at 135 Macleod Trail S.W. and off of 420 Centre Street N at the former River Roadhouse lot.

Please note that part of the set dressing will include some temporary aesthetic changes to business storefronts in the Downtown as well as some steel cut banners and other decals. These will be removed after filming is complete.

Wednesday, June 15
Filming will begin on Wednesday, June 15 inside the main film set at 111 3 Avenue S.W. (inside the former Vespucci’s building). In the afternoon, an additional scene will be filmed outside on 4 Avenue S.W. and will require a road closure of 4 Avenue with intermittent traffic control on 1 Street S.W. from 4 Avenue to 6 Avenue. There will also be parking restrictions on both sides of 1 Street S.W. between 4 and 6 Avenue. Filming will be complete by 9 p.m.

Thursday, June 16
Filming will begin at 7 a.m. inside St. Benedict Anglican Church (602 3 Street S.W.) There will be parking restrictions on 3 Street S.W. from Macleod Trail to 7 Avenue and on 7 Avenue S.W. from 3 Street to 2 Street S.W. Once the scenes inside the Church are complete at approximately 2 p.m. crews will move across town to film additional scenes in a private residence for the remainder of the day.

Friday, June 17

Filming will begin at 7 a.m. on 4 Avenue S.W. inside and in front of Evelyn’s Memory Lane. This will require a road closure of 4 Avenue S.W. from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Crews will also have a large truck blocking the east corner of 4 Avenue and 1 Street S.W. for this scene until 1 p.m. Crews will perform intermittent traffic control on 1 Street S.W between 4 and 5 Avenue. A drone may also be used for parts of the scene as required. Filming will be complete by 10 p.m.

Monday, June 20

Filming will begin at 6 a.m. at Spitzee Elementary School (409 Macleod Trail S.W.) Crews will perform intermittent traffic control on Macleod Trail and filming will be complete by 10 a.m. Crews will also be filming at St. Benedict Anglican Church (602 3 Street S.W.) from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. and will need to close 3 Street S.W. between Macleod Trail and 7 Avenue for outdoor scenes on the street and parking lot.

Tuesday, June 21

The entire day of filming will take place at Highwood High School. Once these scenes are complete, crews will remove their vehicles until the next filming dates.

‘Tin Star’ is produced by Kudos Film and Television and was created by acclaimed British director and screenwriter Rowan Joffe. The show is described as ‘an epic tale of deception, betrayal, murder and revenge set against the backdrop of remote and beautiful Canadian mountain town.’ The series will star Tim Roth; who is known for his roles in ‘The Hateful Eight,’ ‘Pulp Fiction’ and ‘Reservoir Dogs’ and Christina Hendricks; known for her roles in ‘Mad Men’ and ‘Drive.’
