Now in its 18th year, the annual Alberta Health & Safety Conference is the first choice HSE event in Western Canada. The Annual Conference and Trade Show combine top-notch educational sessions with a trade show designed to enhance the learning experience. Over two days, an expected 400 health and safety industry leaders and workers will gather at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel & Conference Centre in Banff Alberta, to hear the latest news and views in health and safety research, best practices, communications, safety procedures, trends and much more.

Opening the Conference with greetings will be various industry leaders. We then kick off the conference with Bob Stenhouse who spent twenty years in the RCMP specializing in organized crime, homicide undercover and major crime investigations. Following the Opening Address, we offer a variety of sessions, such as a session from Alberta Labour and Immigration with speaker ADM Lisa Chen, and Occupational Health for Safety: Injury Mitigation Through New Innovative Approaches to Health and Wellness Promotion from Dr. Farrell Cahill. These sessions will provide conference attendees with the latest information to promote safe, healthy, productive workforces & communities.

Ms. Michelle Spacil, President of the Health & Safety Conference Society of Alberta, and Training Supervisor at the Alberta Motor Transport Association, said the conference theme of ‘Success Through Adaptation’ allows us to reflect on behavior that is ever challenged and evolving. Our ability to think creatively and imagine solutions to workplace health and safety issues is a major asset.

“This conference provides the opportunity to better support our industries by networking with other safety practitioners. As well, it’s an opportunity to gain knowledge from our extensive educational sessions,” Ms. Spacil added.

Rounding out day two of the conference program will be Kimberly Allison, who is a Certified Social Media Expert. She will be speaking on The Social Media Addiction. Creating Calm Amongst the Chaos.

Complementing the conference program is the Safety Hall, the largest of its kind in Western Canada, with over 50 exhibitors filling the Van Horne Ballroom at the Fairmont Banff Springs, showing off the latest advancements in the industry’s technologies and services.

“Our safety hall provides our delegates with connection to more than 50 trade show displays including innovation, training and products all focused on making safety a way of life,” said Ms. Spacil. “The hall allows a place for all professionals to gather, collaborate and gain leading knowledge on changes to our industry.”

The Health & Safety Conference Society of Alberta (HSCSA) is a not-for-profit association, consisting of health and safety associations, employer associations, professional societies, and other strategic partners concerned with health and safety. The HSCSA ‘s vision it to be the first choice HSE event in Western Canada. Our mission is to provocatively advance new thought and action around workplace health, safety and environment.
