HIGH RIVER, AB: The Town of High River is pleased to announce its partnership with Styro-Go Inc., a mobile polystyrene recycling company servicing businesses and municipalities across Canada.
Starting on Monday, April 2, the Town’s partnership with Styro-Go Inc. will now allow residents to drop-off polystyrene (Styrofoam) at the High River Recycling & Yard Waste Centre, located at 640 7 Street N.W.
The Town will now accept white polystyrene packaging that is clean and free of tape, staples and contaminants. Food packages, soiled or dirty packaging, hard materials or coloured polystyrene will not be accepted.
The process for recycling polystyrene-based products is typically complicated and expensive. Styro-Go provides companies and municipalities with a more affordable alternative to landfills.
Polystyrene currently accounts for approximately 30 per cent of landfills by volume. Once recycled, polystyrene materials can be made into many different plastic-based products and this will reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfills.
The Town and Styro-Go Inc. will offer this service as a one-year pilot project.
