Strathmore, Alta. – Strathmore RCMP continue to remain on the scene of a multiple vehicle fatality that occurred on Glenmore Trail west of Highway 791. On March 18, 2020, at approximately 9:30 a.m., Strathmore RCMP received a call of a multiple vehicle collision between a tow truck and an SUV.
Preliminary investigation indicates a tow truck was heading eastbound on Glenmore Trail west of Highway 791 and lost control and collided with an SUV travelling on Glenmore Trail. The driver and lone occupant of the tow truck was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver and passenger of the SUV were deceased at the scene. As notifications need to be completed with next of kin, no further information regarding the deceased will be released at this time.
Road conditions at the time of the collision involved icy patches.
The Strathmore RCMP, along with the assistance of the RCMP Collision Analyst, continue to investigate the cause of this fatal collision.
At this time, traffic on Glenmore Trail west of Secondary Highway 791 is being re-routed from Secondary Highway 791 to Range Road 283 and this will continue for several hours.
