EDMONTON, AB (December 11, 2015): Livingstone-Macleod MLA Pat Stier asked NDP Health Minister Sarah Hoffman why the government decommissioned three fully-equipped ambulance units purchased by the MD of Willow Creek, the Wildrose Official Opposition said today.
The MD of Willow Creek entered into a pilot project with AHS in 2013 which allowed it to purchase the units, and provide emergency care for southern Alberta. AHS suddenly decommissioned the units seven week ago.
“These ambulances are just collecting dust, instead of supporting patients in need,” Stier said. “It’s troubling that the NDP won’t commit to re-authorizing these units when they don’t have a better plan in place to provide emergency care. Willow Creek should be rewarded, not punished for its efforts to support the region’s emergency needs.”
