Cst. Darlene GoguenThe following is a statement from Cst. Darlene Goguen, who was injured along with Cst. Eric Dubois, in the incident that killed Cst. Dave Ross, Cst. Douglas Larche and Cst. Fabrice Gevaudan of the RCMP on June 4, 2014 in Moncton, N.B.
I would like to take this opportunity to express a heartfelt thank you following the horrific actions that took place on June 4, 2014, a day that will be remembered forever by Monctonians and by people all over the world.

On that tragic day, three of my colleagues lost their lives in the line of duty. We honour Cst. Doug James Larche, Cst. Dave Ross, and Cst. Fabrice Georges Gevaudan.

Cst. Eric Dubois and myself were also injured on that tragic day. I would like everyone to know that I am recovering well from my injuries. I wish to express my deepest gratitude for the support, encouragement, generosity, and the many prayers that were received from around the world in the days and weeks that followed. Without these prayers, the road to recovery would not have been possible. My career in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police was a chosen one, and I will continue to pursue it with pride.

Thank you,

Cst. Darlene Goguen

Statement from Cst. Eric Dubois

Cst. Eric DuboisThe following is a statement from Cst. Eric Dubois, who was injured along with Cst. Darlene Goguen, in the incident that killed Cst. Dave Ross, Cst. Douglas Larche and Cst. Fabrice Gevaudan of the RCMP on June 4, 2014 in Moncton, N.B.

I would like to say thank you to everyone in the Greater Moncton area for their support and collaboration since the beginning of the shooting incident of June 4. I received so much positive energy from all of you through comforting thoughts and notes of well-being that it didn’t take long for me to heal from my injuries; this sounds incredible but is the truth.

I would also like to thank all of the personnel of Moncton Hospital for their professionalism and compassion at the time of the incident which was reflected in the care they provided and the top quality service I received.

Thanks to all of those people from across Canada and the United States that took the time to write something to me. It was truly appreciated, so good for my morale and helped immensely with the healing process.

Finally, a special thanks to the RCMP and my colleagues for all they have done for me, during and following this incident. We are a big family and I appreciate being a part of it. I would like to say more but if you take the time to feel the energy that comes with these words, you will understand the heartfelt gratitude that I feel.

I am proud to be a member of a great organization such as the RCMP which is built on a tradition to serve the community and all Canadians.

~ Cst. Eric Dubois
