Alberta – Have you ever watched a STARS helicopter fly overhead and wondered what goes on inside? Or wanted to ask a STARS crew member a question? Here’s your chance to do all this and more at one of STARS’ upcoming open houses.
To mark our 30th anniversary, STARS is opening the doors of its Calgary, Edmonton and Grande Prairie bases to give the public an inside look at how we operate. At these events, guests will have the opportunity to go on a behind-the-scenes tour of a STARS base, complete with an up-close look at a STARS helicopter.
In addition to the base tour, guests will have the chance to:
- Meet STARS pilots and air medical crew members
- Tour the Mobile Education Unit and check out the human patient simulator
- Meet STARS VIPs (Very Important Patients)
- Hang out with STARBEAR
- Purchase limited edition STARS 30th anniversary merchandise
Guests at the Calgary base open house will also have the chance to tour the STARS Emergency Link Centre (ELC). The ELC coordinates STARS missions 24 hours a day, linking emergency service providers together to coordinate the best care possible for each patient.
STARS has flown more than 30,000 missions since 1985 and we hope you will join us to celebrate this 30-year milestone.
