STARS Announces Online Country Music Concert to Support Operations

CALGARY/SASKATOON/WINNIPEG, May 6, 2020 – In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, STARS has had to postpone or cancel most of its  fundraising events through the spring and summer. In response, the non-profit, charitable helicopter air ambulance organization will take its efforts online with Streaming for STARS, a virtual concert and fundraiser to help STARS be there for the next patient in need.

STARS is an integral part of the emergency response system in Western Canada and continues to fly the critically ill and injured during crises such as the pandemic we are currently facing,” said Andrea Robertson, STARS president and CEO. “We want to assure you that our crews remain mission ready at all six bases across three provinces and that your support of Streaming for STARS will directly help Western Canadians who live, work and travel across the Prairies.”

Scheduled performers for the virtual concert include Brett Kissel, George Canyon, Aaron Pritchett, Gord Bamford, Hunter Brothers, The Washboard Union, Jess Moskaluke, Aaron Goodvin, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Chris Buck Band, Bobby Wills, Dan Davidson, Tenille Arts, Rob Watts, Trevor Panczak and more. There are also scheduled appearances by Ron MacLean, Mark McMorris, Dan Clark, Josh Morrissey, Kim Coates and STARS team members.

“We’ll all be there because STARS needs our help,” said CCMA and JUNO Awards winner Jess Moskaluke. “In these uncertain times, there is one thing for certain, and that is STARS is always standing by at the ready, waiting for the next patient who needs them.”

“I’d also like to thank the numerous wonderful people that are coming together on May 8 for a night of fantastic entertainment, as well as the Jim Pattison Broadcasting Group for airing this on their radio stations,” said Robertson. “One hundred per cent of proceeds raised will support STARS’ life-saving operations at each of our six bases.”

Streaming for STARS will be held on May 8, 2020, starting at 7 p.m. MST / 8 p.m. CST. It will be live-streamed on STARS’ Facebook page, online at and will be simulcast on the following Jim Pattison Broadcast Group radio stations: QX 104 Winnipeg, CJVR Melfort, CKBI Prince Albert, CJNB North Battleford, CJNS Meadow Lake, Big Country 93.1 XXFM Grande Prairie, XM 105 Whitecourt, Big West Country Drayton Valley, Wild 95.3 Calgary, CHAT 94.5 Medicine Hat, Country 95.5 Lethbridge and B104 Cranbrook.
