St John Ambulance Launches Blended Online Certificate Program

St. John Ambulance, Alberta Council is pleased to announce the launch of our blended online certificate program for Standard First Aid with CPR, starting February 1st, 2019.

This program was developed as part of an ongoing partnership between Yardstick Testing & Training and St. John Ambulance – Alberta Council to provide greater flexibility in access and learning options for first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training. Based on the in-class curriculum, the online program is interactive, engaging, competency-based and approved by Alberta OHS for workplace First Aid certification.

Students will complete the online course components at their own pace, then register for the one day, in-class component to complete the demonstrated competency and validation process. The in-class portion is offered at all St. John Ambulance’s seven Training & Community Service Centres located throughout Alberta and consists of a written exam and practical skill assessments lead by a certified instructor.

February is Heart Month. One in twelve Canadians are affected by vascular and heart disease which remain the second leading cause of death in Canada. By increasing awareness, training and access to Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) within our communities more lives can be saved. During cardiac emergencies, seconds count. Everyone can learn to save a life.

St. John Ambulance is making the ability to learn critical lifesaving techniques online more affordable, accessible and easy to learn than ever before. Visit our online training platform for information and video clips: Our free Save-A-Life App to access community located AED is the largest in Canada and compatible with Apple and Android platforms.
