Blue skies, green grass and sunshine all are a signal that Golf Tournament season has begun. The 13th Annual Sheep River Health Trust Golf 4 Wellness Tournament is one of the region’s most anticipated tournaments and is always a big hit with the golfers. Mark your calendar for July 14, 2016 at the Turner Valley Golf Course for 12:00pm.
In the past 12 years over $580,000 has gone back into Health & Wellness Initiatives from this event. “It is our longest running event. We focus on creating a day of fun and entertainment, we try not to get to serious, all while raising funds for the Oilfield’s Hospital and Rising Sun Long Term Care. This is a key reason golfers keep our tournament on the calendar every year” says Andrea Mitchell Executive Director at the Trust.
2016 is already shaping up to be another great year. The Sheep River Health Trust and the Foothills Lions Club have partnered to deliver the “Summer Olympics Golf Open” to the Foothills. Diane Bray, Lions Club President is excited about the partnership as both organizations are working towards improving the community. “The Foothills Lions Club has been supporting this region for 50 years and to partner on an event with another long serving organization like the Sheep River Health Trust (32 years) will help us both maximize the impact we make.”
Andrew Gustafson Board Chair says the decision to partner with the Lions Club was an easy one as “they have been a long-time supporter and they have a strong commitment to Health & Wellness in the region. Over the past 18 years the Lions have contributed $1.6 million to local initiatives that have a direct impact of the health of the residents in the region.”
We invite everyone to get involved with the event! Come out, be an Olympian for the day, maybe meet a real Olympian and strive for the Podium…..
