Six Winners Selected in RCMP “Name the Foal” Contest


RCMP Name the Foal contestOttawa, Ontario – Introducing Maple, Maya, Mavrik, Minion, Minuit and Monark, the six RCMP foals who now have names thanks to the creativity of young Canadians.

Each spring, the RCMP “Name the Foal” contest asks young people from across Canada to submit original names for six of the foals born at the RCMP Breeding Farm in Pakenham, Ontario. This year the names had to begin with the letter “M”.

The winning names were submitted by:

  • Connor Udal, age 11, Maple Creek, Saskatchewan – Maple
  • Bridget Zavitske, age 8, Dunrobin, Ontario – Maya
  • Maverick Gaudet, age 3, Kanata, Ontario – Mavrik
  • Allison Patrick, age 12, Oxford Station, Ontario – Monark
  • Seth and Micah Burke, age 6 and 4, Murray River, Prince Edward Island – Minion
  • Lacey Shea Trainor, age 9, Johnstons River, Prince Edward IslandMinuit

All winners will receive a signed RCMP Stetson worn by a Musical Ride member, a set of the 2015 Musical Ride Trading Cards, a Horse & Rider Leaf Pin, a framed photo of the foal they named, and a certificate signed by the Commissioner of the RCMP.
