EDMONTON, AB – (On Tuesday), Wildrose Little Bow MLA Dave Schneider asked Infrastructure and Transportation Minister Brian Mason about the need for funding for rural transportation infrastructure projects.
“In the riding of Little Bow, a roundabout has been proposed for the convergence of highway 23 and highway 519, where seven accidents have taken place since January 1 and one fatality.”
Schneider pointed out the unclear direction that the NDP are taking with regards to rural transportation infrastructure funding.
“Considering that detail is limited in the supply bill as to where dollars for infrastructure are to be spent and given that the resource road program was funded at $31 million and the local road bridge program was funded at $26 million, rural communities need to know what the government’s plans are,” Schneider said. “Wildrose’s 10-10 plan would make sure that municipalities have resources for these projects.”
