Team Laycock and Decisive Farming are excited to announce the launch of Decisive Farming’s CurlingVille presented by Crescent Point Energy. CurlingVille is Team Laycock’s way of energizing the sport of Curling for today’s youth across the prairies. With the help of their sponsors, Team Laycock is supporting the sport that they love in the best way they know how; healthy competition and hard work! Communities across Saskatchewan and Alberta can enter for a chance to win 1 of 3 junior curling clinics at their club and the grand prize to have Team Laycock play a game against the local champions.
Decisive Farming’s CurlingVille is the evolution of Team Laycock’s Curling Tour program which saw Team Laycock go to rural communities and teach Curling to junior members. Due to the success the program had with junior members and rural curling clubs, the Curling Tour has been expanded into Decisive Farming’s CurlingVille with the aim to further the growth of this great game.
CurlingVille will have 3 stops on its winter tour and now communities will be competing for the grand prize of seeing Saskatchewan’s 2014 Brier Representatives take on the local champions in an exhibition match at their rink! Winners will also get a junior Curling clinic and a luncheon supported by Decisive Farming. A day of fun, friends and food! The two runner-up communities will receive Junior Curling Clinics taking place at their clubs put on by Team Laycock.
When asked about CurlingVille, Kirk Muyres, Third for Team Laycock said, “We love the excitement these young players bring to the ice and teaching them reminds us that it is important to give back to the communities and the sport that has given us so much over the years”.
Justin Schmaltz, Marketing Manager at Decisive Farming echoed Kirk’s enthusiasm, “Curling is such an important part of many rural communities and we want to continue to nurture the spark that will get young people involved in this great sport.”
Both agree how great it is too see this tour grow the past two seasons and that they want to continue to make it bigger and better than ever. “We want continue to support local communities, but even more, continue to drive participation at the club level. We feel that CurlingVille does all of that”. Commented Kirk.
