Less than two months until annual gala takes centre stage at Lynnwood Ranch
“I never thought I would be [in this situation]. I didn’t really understand domestic violence, I had never been in a situation like that before; and before I knew it, I was in way over my head and I didn’t know how to get out.”
That is just the beginning of ‘Jennifer’s’ story. In a video testimonial that will be played for guests at the gala, a past resident shares what brought her to Rowan House Emergency Shelter and how our programs and services have made a difference in her life.
You can help make a difference in the lives of women and children just like Jennifer by attending our annual Hope & Healing Gala on Saturday, April 23rd at Lynnwood Ranch in Aldersyde. For the price of one ticket, you can help provide food, clothing, safety and counselling for one day for one woman or child in shelter.
Between April 1st, 2015 and March 1st 2016, 88 women and 115 children called Rowan House home, but the message is one of hope. Funds raised through the Hope & Healing gala will help Rowan House continue to provide necessary crisis intervention services, but also vital preventative programming in schools and in the community aimed at educating people on domestic abuse and empowering them to make choices that ultimately lead to lives free of violence.
