Shelter looking for donations to provide special support during the holiday season
The holidays are meant to be a time of joy and family coming together, but unfortunately, that’s not always the case.
“Christmas can be a very difficult time of year for families in the shelter as they deal with the emotions of leaving an abusive relationship,” said Tia with the Community Team. “But Christmas is also a time of hope, something that’s very important for a family’s journey to healing so we want to make sure it’s a positive experience for them.”
Rowan House is asking the community for it’s support by way of donations to it’s Holiday Wish Book campaign. People can click the link below to view the catalogue where they’ll be able to see the items the shelter is in need of; such as a Turkey Dinner or a Child/Woman’s Gift Basket. They can either purchase the item right through the website or send a cheque through the mail with the donation form, checked off with where the money is directed. Shelter staff and volunteers will then go out and shop for the women and children who may be in shelter on Christmas morning as well as a some of our clients supported through Outreach who may be in need of a little reminder that someone out there cares.
