Calgary, AB – The Calgary Zoo is bringing back the animatronic dinosaurs in March of 2015. Following a thorough refurbishment of the Prehistoric Park, the zoo will introduce 17 dinosaur models into the park to add to the current collection.
“These massive machines that mimic dinosaur behaviour will literally breathe new life into Prehistoric Park and much like the dinosaurs themselves, bring that area of the zoo back to life,” states Lindsey Galloway, Director Communications, Marketing and Sales.
The Calgary Zoo featured Dinosaurs Alive back in 2010 and based on the success from the previous event, hired Vancouver company, Dinosaurs Unearthed to bring them back. These realistic, fleshy models have special engineering to help them move in a true fashion. All of the creatures vocalize and some can even be controlled through the touch of a button by a curious visitor.
“Guests will be exposed to an enhanced experience of our Prehistoric Park – we’ve taken what everyone loved about the area and made it better,” says Roz Freeman, Special Events Advisor. “We’ve increased our programming space and efforts to educate our visitors on how we learn about dinosaurs and the role they played in the Alberta Badlands.”
Prehistoric Park will remain closed to prepare for the arrival of the animatronic dinosaurs. The whole area will reopen in March 2015 to make way for the new exhibit.
