High River Gift of Music Society presents renowned concert pianist, Janina Fialkowska in a matinée concert. Hailed as “one of the Grandes Dames of piano playing” and beloved for her exquisite playing, Fialkowska has enchanted audiences and critics around the world with her remarkable music. The High River concert will feature works from her newly released CD, ‘Sons et Parfums’, and includes French themes along with Fialkowska’s iconic performances of Chopin.
“What better way to celebrate Chopin’s 210th birthday on March 1 by attending a concert with the world’s leading Chopin interpreter – Janina Fialkowska,” says Michèle Wheatley-Brown, Artistic Director of the High River Gift of Music Society.
The great Arthur Rubinstein called Fialkowska a “born Chopin interpreter’ following her prize-winning performance at his inaugural Master Piano Competition. Trained in Montreal, Paris and at New York’s Juilliard, Fialkowska has been named an Officer of the Order of Canada, received three honorary doctorates and won the Governor General’s 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award in Classical Music for her accomplishments. Fialkowska’s album ‘Chopin Recital 3’ received the 2018 JUNO award for Classical Album of the Year.
“We are delighted to present such a phenomenal artist of this caliber to our audiences.” says Wheatley-Brown, “Fialkowska’s playing inspires and uplifts audiences wherever she plays.”
