On October 16, 2014, at 4:15 pm, Wetaskiwin RCMP members were dispatched to a bomb threat at the Value Drug Mart, located at Unit A, 5215 – 50 Ave, Wetaskiwin. The store was evacuated and members from Wetaskiwin and Maskwacis contained the area around the store to ensure public safety. Wetaskiwin Fire Department and EMS were placed on standby. Explosive Disposal Unit from K Divison was contacted and provided direction in the search of the business. At approximatley 5:45 pm, the store was deemed safe and employees were allowed to return.
The investigation regarding the source and suspects of the threat is ongoing.
