RCMP Turner Valley – Handgun – Drug – Cash Seizure


HANDGUN – DRUG – CASH SEIZURE

In the early morning hours of December 23rd, 2014 Turner Valley RCMP located a suspicious vehicle parked at the pumps of a local gas station despite the business being closed. Investigation into the vehicle and its driver found there to be ammunition rounds within reach of the driver. The driver was unable to produce identification and was subsequently arrested. Further search of the vehicle revealed an unsecured, loaded, 9mm handgun and 140 grams of a substance believed to be Methamphetamine (Crystal Meth).

A search warrant obtained for the vehicle further revealed knives, drug paraphernalia and approximately $1,000 in Canadian currency.

Twenty-six year old Ivan LETO of Chestermere, Alberta, now faces a total of five Criminal Code charges in relation to the incident. These charges include:

Possession of a Loaded Restricted Firearm in a vehicle
Possession of a Restricted Firearm without a License
Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking
Possession of Proceeds of Crime
Possession of a Weapon for a dangerous purpose

LETO has been released on his own Recognizance and is set to appear in Turner Valley Provincial Court on February 10th, 2015.
