Fatal Two Vehicle Collision – Highway 7 Near Black Diamond

2015/11/29 at 03:30 hours – Highway 7 has now been re-opened.
At approximately 9:20 pm on November 28, 2015, Turner Valley and Okotoks RCMP were dispatched to a report of a car failing to maintain its lane and swerving into oncoming traffic.
Within minutes of the initial call, RCMP were alerted to a head on collision involving the same vehicle.
Preliminary scene investigation has revealed that a white car was travelling west bound on Highway 7 at 112 Street, when it served into the oncoming lane, striking an east bound minivan head on.
The 35 year-old female and lone occupant of the white car was deceased at the scene.
The adult male driver of the minivan was transported to hospital by STARS in life threatening condition. There were two other occupants of the minivan who were taken by ground ambulance to Foothills Hospital in unknown conditions.
Highway 7 at the collision site remains closed and is expected to remain closed for several more hours. An RCMP collision analyst is assisting in the investigation. At this time the cause of the collision is unknown.
The name of the deceased is not being released. This is the limit of available information at this time; however, further details will be provided tomorrow after the collision scene has been fully examined.
