RCMP Strathmore – Search Warrant at Rural Marihuana Grow Operation


On November 2, 2015, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Strathmore RCMP executed a Search Warrant at a rural property in the County of Rocky View, north of Langdon, Alberta. A large marihuana grow operation was discovered and police seized 1140 marihuana plants valued at $1.425 million dollars.

The grow operation was located inside multiple grow rooms inside the residence and a large outbuilding on the property. Two people, Thong Vihn Nguyen (63) and Phan Thi Dang (62) were arrested and face charges of Production of Marihuana and Possession of Marihuana for the Purpose of Trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Strathmore RCMP were assisted by the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit “Green Team”, the RCMP Police Dog Service and the Strathmore RCMP Crime Reduction Unit.
