Highway 1 is closed in both directions approximately 7 KM East of Strathmore due to a single vehicle collision which has ruptured the main gas line the runs along the side of Highway 1. Emergency crews and Atco Gas are on scene and estimate temporary repairs will allow the Highway to re-open in approximatly 30 minutes. If travel is needed in the interim, RCMP recommend a detour of Highway 817 north from Strathmore, to highway 564 east, then returning south on Highway 21 to the Trans-Canada.
