On June 19, 2015 at approximately 6:30 PM Strathmore RCMP received information that there was a male inside a Strathmore residence that was under court ordered conditions not to be there. The male inside the residence spoke with police by telephone, stating he was armed and refused to leave the residence or follow police direction and he had taken steps to fortify the residence. Strathmore RCMP with assistance from Town Peace Officers and Alberta Sheriffs blocked off an approximately 1 block radius surrounding the home and evacuated near by houses for the safety of those residence.
The RCMP Emergency Response team was activated and were responding to the area. Through further negotiations by telephone, the male eventually agreed to surrender and was taken into custody without further incident at approximately 9:30 PM on the same day. After police ensured the house involved was secured and no further persons were involved, residence were allowed to return to their homes at approximately 10:00 PM.
Vaughn Eugene CARRIGAN , 49, is currently in custody charged with Uttering Threats, Drive while Unauthorized and 3 counts of Breach of Recognizance along with other previously laid charges. He is scheduled to appear in Drumheller court by CCTV June 26
