RCMP Stettler – Fatal Motorcycle Collision


On October 8, 2015 at 1:01 pm, Stettler RCMP members were dispatched to a collision involving a semi truck and a motorcyclist on Highway 11, approximately 1 km south of the junction with Highway 12. Stettler Regional Fire Rescue and Emergency Medical Services attended where the driver of the motorcycle, a 64 year old male from Stettler, was pronounced deceased on scene.
With the support of a RCMP Collision Analyst, preliminary investigation has revealed that the motorcycle entered the oncoming lane of traffic in front of an oncoming semi truck. The 43 year old driver of the semi truck was not injured.
Highway 11 was closed for two hours while first responders were on scene. The cause of the collision remains under investigation, however speed, traffic, and weather are not believed to be factors in the collision. No charges will be laid.
