RCMP Southern Alberta – Weekend Update

Pincher Creek-Drug Search Warrant   

Pincher Creek Alberta- On the 21st of September, 2016 at approximately 10:00 pm., members of the Southern Alberta Emergency Response Team and the Pincher Creek RCMP executed a search warrant on a rural property located near the Pincher Creek airport. One male was located in the home and taken into custody without incident. On the 22nd of September an extensive search on the property was conducted with the assistance of the RCMP Special Tactical Operation team. Police located what is believe to be crack cocaine as well as several firearms. Charges are pending against several individuals associated to the property and the investigation is ongoing.

An update will be provided when new information becomes available.

Cochrane: Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision – Highway 1
On 2016-09-22 at approximately 2300 hrs, Cochrane RCMP responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 1 at Scott Lake Hill.  When members arrived on scene the collision was between an Infiniti SUV and a semi tractor trailer unit.  The semi unit was travelling east on Highway 1 when the SUV travelled into the path of the semi unit.
The lone driver of the SUV, 32 year old male from Calgary, AB, was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The driver of the semi unit was not injured.
Cochrane RCMP are still investigating this matter and at this time no charges are pending.

Cochrane – Serious Motor Vehicle Collison / Highway 22

On September 23, 2016, at 7:19 a.m., Cochrane RCMP responded to a complaint of a serious collision on Highway 22 north of the intersection with River Heights Drive.  A white Toyota SUV collided with a semi truck hauling a load of lumber.  The female driver of the SUV has been identified and is a 34 year old female from Cochrane, AB.  Her name will not be released at this time.  This female was trapped inside her vehicle after the collision occurred.
The Cochrane Fire Department removed her from the vehicle and she was transported to the Foothills Hospital via ground ambulance where she remains in serious and life threatening condition.  The driver of the semi truck was not injured.   Highway 22 was closed for several hours while this collision was investigated with members of RCMP Forensic Collision Reconstruction Unit and members from Cochrane RCMP Detachment.  During this time traffic was re-directed.
This investigation is ongoing.

Three Arrested After Southern Alberta Crime Spree

Airdrie, Alberta- On September 16, 2016, the Airdrie RCMP along with assistance of the Okotoks RCMP arrested three individual responsible for a recent string of property crimes and related thefts in the Southern Alberta area. The trio were found at an Airdrie Hotel, where police located and arrested them without incident.

All three accused, 28 year old Cole MCLEAN of High River, Alberta, 32 year old Derek MUMFORD of Blairmore, Alberta, and 23 year old Paige RIST of Calgary, Alberta, were charged with numerous Criminal Code offences including S. 354, Possession of Stolen Property, as well as outstanding warrants.

No further information shall be provided by the RCMP at this time as the matter is before the court, however, should additional details become available during the course of this investigation, an updated media release will be issued.

Taber – Police Investigate Missing Swimmer

Taber, Alberta – On September 25, 2016  around 2 pm, Taber RCMP were called to a report of a missing male at the MD of Taber Park. A male in his 30s had been swimming with 3 of his siblings when he climbed a pillar and jumped into the water. The male has not been accounted for.

Taber Fire Department, EMS, Taber police, Lethbridge Fire dive team, Victim Services and Taber RCMP are actively searching the river at this time.
