Cochrane – Break and Enter and Flight from Police

Cochrane, Alberta – On May 22nd, 2016 the Cochrane RCMP responded to a complaint of a break and enter to a residence near Sibbald Creek, Alberta.

The home owner had gone into their garage and found a male inside.  The home owner spooked the male who discharged bear spray and left.  He missed the home owner and fled in a black Range Rover with a stolen Alberta Licence plate of BTK0990.  No one was hurt.

On May 23rd at about 4:30 PM, Cochrane RCMP observed a black Range Rover perform an illegal U-turn to avoid a check stop that was set up on Highway 1A. A Cochrane RCMP member went to investigate and the vehicle started to drive away in excessive speeds and pass vehicles in an extremely unsafe manner.  The member did activate their emergency equipment but the vehicle did not stop for them.  The member had successfully confirmed that it was the suspect vehicle from the break and enter before pulling over to no longer follow the vehicle.

Attached picture is a similar make and model of the suspect vehicle, and a composite drawing of the suspect.

If anyone sees this vehicle occupied, RCMP advises not to approach but to call 911 right away.  If anyone sees this vehicle unoccupied, please call the complaint line at 403-932-2211 and do not approach or disturb it.
