RCMP Southern Alberta – Human Remains Found and Fatal Motorcycle Accident

RCMP Investigate Found Human Remains East of Airdrie

Airdrie, Alberta – On May 4th, 2015, shortly before 4 p.m., the Airdrie RCMP was advised that a work crew in a remote rural location east of Airdrie had found human remains. The RCMP is on scene and police have secured the immediate area. The body will be removed to the Calgary Medical Examiner’s office for identification and autopsy.  No information is available at this time on the cause of death, identity, gender or age of the remains, or how long they have been in that location.

A further release will be issued this afternoon to provide an update on this investigation. Until that time, the RCMP will have no further comment to provide.

RCMP investigators, in conjunction with Calgary Police Service have determined this may be related to a missing persons case from Calgary. RCMP have turned over the investigation to the Calgary Police Service and will continue to assist the investigators as required.

RCMP Canmore Investigates Fatal Motorcycle Collision

On May 3rd, 2015 at approximately 8:30 pm Canmore RCMP received a call that there had been a single vehicle motorcycle collision on Highway 1A near the Gap Lake Hill. It appeared that the lone rider lost control of his motorcycle and struck the guardrail adjacent to the highway. The rider was pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles or persons were involved. No factors that may have led to the collision have been identified as of yet. RCMP continue the investigation into the collision.

The deceased is a 58 year old male from Calgary, Alberta whose name is being withheld at this time.
